How a family of five fell for Cape Charles
It started with a long weekend.
A family of five from Richmond who fell hard for Cape Charles a few years ago and couldn't stop coming back. Each visit, the same question came up: what if we just had a place here?
That first trip, we drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel with the kids' faces pressed to the windows, walked the beach at sunset, split an ice cream from Brown Dog, and watched a flock of sandpipers race the tide along the shoreline. We knew we'd be back.
In the spring of 2026, we found our place. A second-floor condo inside Bay Creek, just outside historic downtown Cape Charles. It was move-in ready, but more importantly, it was us-ready. Steps from the community pool. A short golf cart ride to Mason Avenue. Bay Creek's private beach just minutes away through the trees. Quiet enough for nap time, close enough to everything that mattered.
We named it Three Little Sandpipers. We have three kids, and there was that flock of sandpipers from our very first sunset here. Fast, fearless, always together. They felt like our kids on a beach day. The name stuck.
Every choice in this cottage was made with families in mind. The pack-n-play and high chair are here so you don't have to bring yours. The bunk room sleeps four little ones. A golf cart available which our kids compares to a ride at a theme park that just happens to drop them off at ice cream. The garage has beach chairs and toys already, so you can show up with one duffel bag and a cooler.
We hope your kids will love the bunk room and that you'll watch your own version of a sunset that makes you say we'll be back. We hope you'll find the things we've stocked and feel a little of the care we put into this place. We hope you'll send us a photo of your kids on the balcony, or chasing the sandpipers, or holding up an ice cream cone from Brown Dog — and we hope you'll book again.
This isn't a business to us. It's our family's home, opened up to yours.
It's the rental we always wished we could find. We hope you'll come stay.
Justin, Sara, and family.
